Augmenting Medical Workspaces with Kinect-based Interfaces
نویسنده
چکیده
Medical workflow during doctor-patient consultations is rapidly changing due to the introduction of technologies such as electronic medical records (EMR). This transition has a significant impact on the quality of doctor-patient interactions, resulting in increased cognitive load on doctors, and lowered patient satisfaction. The UCSD DCOG-HCI lab at UCSD is developing a novel interactive medical workspace using “off-the-shelf” tools such as the Kinect and commercially available projectors and webcams. The goal is to create a workspace that seamlessly combines the interaction of physical and digital documents on a shared desktop, enables collaboration between the doctor and patient, and aids in patient engagement and education. To ensure a data-driven design, we are also developing a separate tool to aid in recording, analysis and annotation of rich multimodal data. Data annotation is labor-intensive and time consuming. Simplifying and automating this task with supportive technology will allow for easier analysis and a quicker turnaround of design iterations.

Knowledge about the static and dynamic situation is essential for joint workspaces of human and robot. Surveilling the joint area helps to realize a collaboration and co-existence of human and robot. Therefore, we propose in this paper a system that redundantly monitors the workspace to perceive obstacles within the workspace including the human worker. We use multiple, distributed range sensor...
متن کاملLearning Recycling from Playing a Kinect Game
The emergence of gesture-based computing and inexpensive gesture recognition technology such as the Kinect have opened doors for a new generation of educational games. Gesture based-based interfaces make it possible to provide user interfaces that are more nature and closer to the tasks being carried out, and helping students that learn best through movement (compared to audio and vision). For ...
متن کاملDetection of Alzheimer’s Disease in Elder People Using Gait Analysis and Kinect Camera
Introduction: Gait analysis through using modern technology for detection of Alzheimer's disease has found special attention by researchers over the last decade. In this study, skeletal data recorded with a Kinect camera, were used to analyze gait for the purpose of detecting Alzheimer's disease in elders. Method: In this applied-developmental experimental study, using a Kinect camera, data wer...

We pushed the development of numediart MARG (Magnetic, Angular Rate and Gravity) sensors, started within the FireTraSe project, one step further, from a prototype towards a more productoriented design. Our new master sensor nodes come with embedded WiFi transmitters and Lithium Polymer Battery charger. The attitude of each MARG sensor can be computed, providing the orientation of each performer...
